Whispering Winds

Senior high youth often leave camp with a closer relationship with Christ, a new understanding of their unique gifts, lifelong friendships and great memories.  All senior high programs are full of action-packed programming but still give these young adults lots of opportunity to choose their own adventure!

This site is set apart just for senior high campers. Knowing that this group needs space of its own, Whispering Winds caters to young adults’ unique needs: hammocks, small group gathering spaces, atmosphere built into the natural surroundings and a special worship site!

Some of the activities senior high campers enjoy include high ropes adventure on the Commitment Trail and The Summit Course. In-depth faith talks, worship, devotions, Bible studies, and of course all of the traditional camp favorites are all apart of a week at Whispering Winds. Campers will also spend one night on an off-site camping.

AND -

Night Camp at Whispering Winds

Campers will get to stay up until 2:00 a.m. to discover everything God’s creation has to offer after dark (they’ll get to sleep in to make sure they get plenty of rest!). In addition to normal camp activities, campers will do glow zip-lining at dusk, night fishing, stargazing, night hiking, glow activities, and reflective geocaching.

Housing

At Whispering Winds, you’ll stay in a platform tent with other campers your age and a counselor.

Adventure Trips:

Adventure Camping Trip

This trip has more adventure than a trip featured on a Price Is Right Showcase Showdown! Start the trip off canoeing down one of the region’s most scenic rivers. The Upper Iowa River has been recognized by National Geographic’s Adventure Magazine as one of the top 100 adventures in the United States. Travel throughout Northeast Iowa to further explore the beauty of the region on bike trails, hiking trails, and caves. The trip concludes with a zip line canopy tour zipping over the ravines near Dubuque, Iowa.

The trip includes transportation, food, skilled instructors, camping equipment and a t-shirt. Participants will receive pre-trip information with packing lists and departure times.

Colorado Backpacking Trip

Come with us as we load up the backpacks, travel the trails, and sleep under the stars to truly experience the beauty of the Colorado Rockies. Skilled backpacking guides will lead your group on a four day trip in some of the most spectacular areas of Northern Colorado. The trip ends with a gondola ride down the mountain and swimming at the Old Town Hot Springs Pool in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

The trip includes transportation, food, skilled instructors, camping equipment and a t-shirt. Participants are responsible for their own backcountry clothing and sleeping bag. If you'd like to be picked up from Sullivan Hills Camp, transportation from Carol Joy Holling Camp and Sullivan Hills is available. Participants will receive pre-trip information with packing lists and departure times.
